Raymond W. Merritt
Chairman and President
Raymond Merritt is the founder and President of The Cygnet Foundation. He has for the last forty years been associated with the international law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Mr. Merritt is currently primarily engaged with affairs of the Foundation. Under the Foundations imprimatur, he has authored and edited five books on photography, including, A Thousand Hounds (Taschen), which has received critical and commercial success. Presently in its third printing, it has sold over 40,000 copies. Additionally, he curated a photographic traveling exhibition based on the book that received considerable acclaim. The net proceeds from the sale of the book, the dog calendars and appointment books as well as the net proceeds from the exhibitions were contributed to various animal welfare organizations.
Mr. Merritt’s philanthropic activities involve working with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. At UNICEF, which is the largest international organization concerned with the rights and needs of the child, he served as Secretary, Director and Member of the Executive Committee.
Mr. Merritt also serves as a Director of the Association of Community Employment Programs for the Homeless, which provides employment and training for the homeless and The Design Trust for Public Space, which provides architectural assistance to enhance public space.

Mary Jane Marcasiano heads the Foundation’s initiative to develop programs that support working women in developing countries. This initiative is conducted through Made With Love.
